Olivier LeBlanc helped to set the physical tone with a big hip-check in the neutral zone, sending the Voltigeurs player sailing head over heels early in the first.

The Sea Dogs had a great penalty killing effort, nullifying all three extra-man opportunities in the period.

Shots in the first favoured the Volts 14-9.

It was an energetic second period that saw no scoring, thanks to the play of both netminders. Auger and Guindon stood very tall in the nets. Auger had a great glove save on the penalty kill to keep things even.

The second saw a closer shot total of 10-9 in favour of the hometown boys.

With just over 13 minutes remaining in he game, Drummondville found themselves with a man-advantage. With the penalty half over, a flurry of chances for the Voltigeurs saw Auger flying from one side of the net to the other with Maxime Villemaire diving over to help make the save and keep the game scoreless.

With five minutes to go, Villemaire picked up the puck and found Noah Zilbert open behind the red line to the right of the goal. Zilbert fed an open Stephen Anderson out front who snapped a quick shot, but Guindon stood tall to make the arm save.

It was a game-saver by Guindon because at 16:34 with the their sixth man-advantage of the night, Verrier beat Auger for the game’s only goal and the win for Drummondville.
